ASRock XFast USB is a proprietary system utility designed to boost file transfer speeds for USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 external storage drives on compatible ASRock motherboards. It accomplishes this by changing the data transfer protocol to “Turbo Mode,” which significantly reduces overhead when transferring large files. How to Install and Use XFast USB
Using the utility requires a brief setup sequence to shift your flash drive or external hard drive from “Normal” into “Turbo” mode:
Download and Install: Navigate to the ASRock Utilities Update Support Page or search your specific motherboard’s download catalog. Download and install the XFast USB program.
Plug in Your Drive: Insert your USB flash drive or external hard drive into a compatible USB port on your PC.
Open the Software: Launch the ASRock XFast USB utility. The program interface will display your recognized USB device.
Trigger Turbo Mode: Look at the state of your drive in the program. By default, it will list the status as “Normal”. Click on the device name in the application menu.
Reconnect Your Device: Unplug your USB drive from the computer slot and plug it right back into the exact same port.
Verify Activation: Once reconnected, the software status will switch to a green “Turbo” indicator. Leave the application running in the background to experience faster read and write speeds during copy operations. Important Compatibility Notes
Windows ⁄11 Warning: XFast USB was built primarily for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1. Microsoft heavily revamped the native USB architecture in Windows 10 (introducing standard UASP support), meaning this utility is largely obsolete on modern systems and may fail to run or cause driver conflicts.
Hardware Locking: The software requires an ASRock motherboard to function properly. It will usually lock itself out or display an error message if it detects a motherboard from another brand.
